Visual Jazz Show 
On Thursday, June 17th from 6-9pm the Artist Mercantile will host the art opening for the Visual Jazz Show. During the show you can feast your eyes paintings, sculptures and mixed media all inspired by all things jazz. The Visual Jazz Show is an event working in conjunction with the Twin Cities Jazz Festival and KBEM-FM. The event is free and open to the public. The Artist Mercantile is centrally located in downtown St. Paul which makes it easy to stop in and browse the Visual Jazz before going to hear the live version taking place in Mears Park, the Artists Quarter, or one of the other many other locations.
Each original piece in the Visual Jazz show has been hand selected by a three piece jury. Sculptor Frank J Brown is included in this jury. You may have seen some of Franks work in the permanent collection at the Minneapolis Institute of Arts. Frank will be providing the Artist Mercantile his musician sculptures series. This series will be up and for sale for the duration of the show. The other two jurors are Jazz connoisseur Davis Wilson of the Artist Quarter along with Jennifer Bisch, Proprietor of the Artist Mercantile.
Show runs from June 14th through July 3rd 2010.

Thursday, April 15th from 11:30am - 1pm meet Artist Barbara Lager. Barbara creates colorful and whisical jewelry, eye glass holders, security badge holders, pins and jewelry. Her pieces are made from hand- anodized niobium & aluminum. You might of seen Barbara featured on the Fox 9 morning show MA Roscoe.

Call for Submissions -Visual Jazz Show Call for Submissions Visual Jazz Show at the Artist Mercantile Working in conjunction with the Twin Cities Jazz Festival and KBEM- FM June 14th July 3rd 2010 Opening June 17th 6-9pm Juried exhibition Jurors Artist Frank Brown, Jazz connoisseur Davis Wilson and Proprietor Jennifer Bisch Seeking works of Art that are inspired by Jazz music and musicians. Guidelines " All work must be submitted electronically via email (artistmerc@yahoo.com) or mailed in on a disk. " Do not drop off any samples of your work in person. " High resolution digital images need to in jpeg format. " No slide entries will be accepted. " In subject line of email type in Visual Jazz Show and artist name. " Each artist may submit two works for consideration. " All wall art must be framed and ready to hang. " All work must be for sale. Include " Artist Name, Address, Phone Number, Email " An image list - Title, Size (HxWxD), Medium " Retail price (please keep in mind that the Artist Mercantile takes 50% commission of the retail price) Dates to Remember " All entries must be submitted by 5pm on Monday, May 3rd 2010. " Selected artists will be notified by Monday, May 24th 2010. The chosen artists will be contacted with more information and instructions. " All work selected will need to be dropped off or mailed in Monday, June 7th by 5pm. " All works that have not been sold during the show will need to be picked up by Saturday, July 17th Notes All formats accepted but because of some space restrictions. Smaller works are best suited for this show. There is no fee to submit your images. Accepted work must be submissions may be mailed or dropped off in person at the Artist Mercantile. Her images are of landscapes, animals, and people in her life. Her work is refreshingly honest, whisical, and colorful.
Per Nora:I try to illustrate common human experiences: places, events, sometimes even songs, which the viewer can identify with. I want to create thoughtful and respectful places, to follow my creative impulse, to create objects of beauty that will speak to the masses.

Art of Romance Soiree

Come Celebrate the Season of Love
the Artist Mercantile will have its wildly annual Art of Romance Soiree. At this free event be prepared to have all of your senses engaged. Listen to live romantic poetry and Live music will be performed by local musician Sam Hall. Taste some delectable wine and chocolates samples. Touch and see the work of 65 Artists. Enjoy the spicy scents of the locally made candles and bath products sold here.
We'd like you to participate too! Bring or mail in your favorite quote about Love, be it something of your own or from a famous poet. Love quotes should be on a 4.25 x 6 (postcard size) piece of paper or card stock. The quotes will then be put on display at the Artist Mercantile.
Valentines Day inspired items include stained, fused glass and locally made jewelry and painted chairs.
It will be a night for all to remember.

Holiday Gift Stroll Dec 3rd-5th 
The Artist Mercantile will collaborate with neighboring gift shops: Sophist-A-Gifts and the Landmarket Gift Shop on their second annual "Holiday Gift Stroll".
1.Visit any one of these unique downtown St. Paul gift shops and pick up your Gift Stroll Stamp Card.
2. Bring your card to each of the participating locations to receive a special stamp on your card.
3. When you have all three stamps, fill out the back side of your card and leave it at your last stop.
4.You will then be entered in the drawing for a chance to win some fantastic prizes.

THE KIMONO SHOW 
TRADITION HISTORY COLOR BEAUTY
The Artist Mercantile will be kicking off The Kimono Show on FRIDAY, AUGUST 7TH 5-9PM.
This free event will allow the public to view a rare and exclusive collection of vintage and modern kimonos from Japan.
Other festivities on Friday will include Origami paper folding demo by Kate Manning who has folded over 3,000 paper cranes, appetizers from Sakura, Asian inspired Art of all mediums made by local Artists, and a raffle for a chance to win a kimono.
Helpful Definitions:
Furisode: Long sleeved kimono worn by young unmarried women with long sleeves and are usually more colorful.
Uchikake: An outer robe worn as part of the bridal wedding costume. Traditionally, the uchikake was red, but robes are created using an infinite number of colors and patterns.
Haori: are mid-length jackets that serve as light coats to be worn over kimonos. Haoris are a traditional and versatile garment.
Show runs through Sept. 5th
